Theater in Berkeley

If you love theater, this is a great place to live! Aurora Theatre Company, in the Berkeley Arts District, began the season with a rich and riveting production of Awake and Sing full of powerful performances. Through December 13th is Fat Pig which has been getting rave reviews – I will have a chance to see it just before it closes and they begin their nearly two week run of The Coverlettes.
There is plenty of buzz around the Aurora as it works towards its $2.1 million campaign to complete a second stage that will enable it to have space for rehearsals, workshops, readings and set building.
We haven’t even ventured outside of downtown to talk about the Ashby Stage/Shotgun Players production of Bertolt Brecht’s Three Penny Opera (a Berkeley audience favorite!) through January 17th or Cal Performances which will be presenting Mark Morris Dance Group’s The Hard Nut beginning December 11th!
